Michael J. Alderman Sr - Repeat Sex Offender - Babysitter Baby Raper

County prosecutors on Tuesday charged a level 2 sex offender with child molestation, according to documents filed in Kitsap County Superior Court.

Michael J. Alderman Sr., 36, is alleged to have molested a 7-year-old girl while baby-sitting her for approximately the last three months, Bremerton police said in court documents.

The girl's mother said her daughter had told her she'd been tickled while her mother was away in the evenings at meetings. When the mother asked more questions, the girl said she couldn't say any more or she would "get into trouble," police said.

The woman said she knew Alderman because he had done some auto repairs for her in the past.

Police confirmed Tuesday that Alderman was a level 2 sex offender. Sex offenders are rated on a scale of 1 to 3, with 3 being the most likely to reoffend.

All sex offenders are required to register with law enforcement, but the community isn't notified of the presence of level 2 sex offenders.

Alderman was found guilty of sexual assault of a child in 1999 in Nebraska and that he failed to register as a sex offender in Florida in 2006.

Investigators said the 7-year-old was allegedly choked briefly on occasion and told not to disclose the incidents.

Alderman remains in the Kitsap County jail on $500,000 bail.

Kevin B. Wagner - Repeat Sex Offender - Carried note cards

A convicted sex offender with a history of harassing teen and preteen girls in public has been charged with propositioning two 15-year-old girls as they walked toward downtown Kirkland in January.

Prosecutors say that when they later arrested Kevin B. Wagner, 53, he was carrying pictures of naked girls and a stack of index cards with notes about unnamed girls.

Wagner was charged last week in King County Superior Court with communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, a sex offense. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Wagner has been convicted of third-degree rape as well as burglary, assault and driving offenses.

On Jan. 7, two 15-year-old Lake Washington High School girls were walking from the bus center in Kirkland toward a fast-food restaurant on Central Way when a an older man with graying hair under a bright orange beanie approached on the sidewalk and asked, "Do you want me to buy your breakfast, honey?"

When the girls declined, the man asked them if they wanted to have sex and made lewd comments about their anatomy. The girls quickly walked away.

Police used the girls' description of the man to put out a composite sketch and an alert to other police, charging documents said.

Then in February, Wagner was arrested on a Metro bus in Kirkland for showing preteen girls pornographic photos. He ended up getting in a scuffle with a passenger who intervened. He was later convicted of misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct for that incident.

Police noted that Wagner looked a lot like the person the teenage girls had described in January. The girls picked Wagner out of a photo lineup, prosecutors said.

Wagner was registered as a Level 3 sex offender, which is considered the highest risk for reoffending.

Wynford Murray - Twisted pedophile gets 25 years to life for failure to register

"What he did to those girls. I don't even have the words for it," Arnold said. "It reeks of a lack of compassion and a lack of concern for the humanity of the most innocent people we have in society."

A transient who was suspected of downloading stories about sex with babies at a Redondo Beach library was sentenced today to 25 years to life for failing to register as a sex offender.

Wynford Murray, 35, was convicted April 17 of the one charge following a non-jury trial before Torrance Superior Court Judge Mark Arnold.

In sentencing Murray, who was convicted 12 years ago in New York for sexually molesting two girls, ages 3 and 5, Arnold said he could find no justification for going outside the three-strikes law and giving Murray a lesser sentence.

Arnold said he took into account Murray's current case, in which he knew he was required to register but lied on the witness stand and said he didn't, as well as his history.

Murray's prior convictions were for forcing the girls to orally copulate him. In addition, 25 pages of stories that were found in Murray's backpack explicitly detailed sex with babies and young girls.

Calling the stories "perverted" is an understatement, Arnold said.

"What he did to those girls. I don't even have the words for it," Arnold said. "It reeks of a lack of compassion and a lack of concern for the humanity of the most innocent people we have in society."

Deputy District Attorney Ann Lee said the evidence showed that Murray knew he had to register, but didn't.

William Lopez - Repeat Sex Offender - Stalked young girl at JCPenny

A convicted sex offender who was supposed to stay away from children is back behind bars after alert security personnel at JCPenney in the Westfield Trumbull mall spotted him following a small girl Saturday.

William Lopez, 63, of Noble Avenue in Bridgeport, was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond after his arraignment Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court on charges of second-degree breach of peace degree and obscenity. His case was continued to May 19.

Police Lt. Keith Golding said Monday that Lopez was spotted by the store's loss-prevention officers as he followed a young girl and her parents Saturday evening. The suspect attracted suspicion because of where his hands were in his pants, Golding said.

Another loss-prevention officer became involved, and the two plainclothes officers followed Lopez out of JCPenney and into another store, where they called cops by cell phone for help.

JCPenney store manager Michele Lozanski said the eagle-eyed employees' training goes well beyond theft prevention.

"One of our cornerstones is also safety," she said.

She declined to name her staff members, but said one was a three-year employee and the other has worked at the store for about a year. "The two [loss-prevention officers] are extremely proud," she said.

Officials said the girl's family was apparently unaware of what was happening.

In 2005, Lopez was convicted of risk of injury to a minor, according to information posted on the state's sex offender registry.

Craig Driscoll - Repeat Sex Offender - Got off with probation then carried on as before

A previously convicted sex offender was indicted this week on 18 counts of possessing child pornography.

Craig Driscoll, 28, formerly of Nashua, is currently serving three to six years in state prison on a probation violation stemming from Probation Officer Jason Berry's discovery of the alleged porn stash last year.

Each of the child porn charges carries a maximum of 3-1/2 to seven years in prison. Driscoll is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges April 30 in Hillsborough County Superior Court.

In October 2006, Driscoll pleaded guilty to aggravated felonious sexual assault for raping a 14-year-old Manchester girl and threatening her with a gun and knife. He was sentenced to a year in jail, probation and required to complete sex offender treatment, prosecutors said.
Berry filed probation violation charges against Driscoll last year, after he was found drinking with two teenage girls in Wilton in July 2008, and again after finding the alleged child pornography in Driscoll's home Aug. 8. Driscoll was convicted of the probation violations last month.

Ismael Malave - Repeat Sex Offender - Threatening Victim Backfired

A previously convicted sex offender was sentenced to serve another 10 to 20 years in prison Wednesday for molesting a 6-year-old girl in Nashua nearly six years ago.

Although Ismael Malave, 43, contends he is innocent, Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge David Sullivan agreed to let him enter an "Alford" plea on a felony sex assault charge.
Malave's unwillingness to admit his guilt could cost him an extra 10 years in prison, however. Under current prison policy, at least, Malave won't be considered eligible for parole until he's completed the sex offender treatment program, and he won't be considered eligible for the program until he is willing to admit his guilt.
The girl whom Malave was convicted of molesting attended his sentencing hearing Wednesday along with several family members.
In addition to his conviction for aggravated felonious sexual assault, Malave also pleaded guilty to witness tampering, admitting that he tried to persuade the girl and her mother not to cooperate with prosecutors.
Patricia Benner, the lawyer representing the girl, warned the girl before the hearing that Malave might try to look her way, or even mouth words at her, but assured the girl that bailiffs would keep her safe from him.

Malave's sentence also prohibits him from initiating any contact with the girl or her family, directly or through any other person.
"He has intimidated this girl and her family to such a degree that he thinks he can manipulate them," Benner said, adding, "It's my belief that conduct will continue" if he isn't strictly forbidden from all contact.
Benner read a statement by the girl's mother, who once had a relationship with Malave, and Assistant County Attorney Leslie Gill read a statement that the girl wrote.

"You are mean. I don't like what you did to me. Why did you do it?" Gill read. "I am so mad at you because you hurt me. You hurt my body and you hurt my feelings."

"I am so scared right now because you did that to me," she read. "I know you're not sorry."
Malave has not apologized, and didn't do so Wednesday. Instead, he protested that his case took too long to be tried, and claimed that guards at the county jail have abused him.

"My rights were violated basically in this state due to my being a minority," Malave said, adding later, "It's a criminal matter, what you all done to me."
Malave also claimed that his lawyer hadn't explained to him previously that he wouldn't be allowed to contact the girl or her family. Booker told Sullivan that in fact, they had discussed it at length before Malave pleaded guilty Monday.Malave had been jailed since his arrest in 2005, held without bail on a single count of aggravated felonious sexual assault while also serving an eight- to 10-year sentence for statutory rape in Plymouth County, Mass.

As part of his plea bargain, Malave agreed that 889 days of the time he's spent in jail would count toward his 10 to 20 year sentence. Malave also received lesser, concurrent sentences for witness tampering.
Malave has a lengthy prior criminal record in his home state of Massachusetts, starting with a 1987 manslaughter conviction from a hit-and-run collision, for which he was sentenced to nine to 15 years in prison, according to the Massachusetts Criminal History Systems Board.
Malave chalked up burglary, drug, weapons and reckless driving convictions around Massachusetts in the late 1990s and was convicted Aug. 31, 2005, on two counts of statutory rape. He was sentenced to eight to 10 years in state prison.

Kenneth Dale Stark - Repeat Sex Offender - Repeat DUI Offender - Stalking kids at Park

A sex offender with a criminal past that covers four states is back behind bars in Sioux Falls, after police say he was hanging around Sioux Falls parks that were packed with kids.Police say there are a few reasons you might spot someone watching a park full of kids, such as parents checking up on a baby-sitter. If you have a weird feeling about it, police say it's best to give them a call and have them check it out just in case.
Kenneth Dale Stark, 59, went before a judge Friday. He was arrested Thursday for being a sex offender loitering in a safety zone. Stark is also charged with his 6th DUI and other misdemeanors.
Police say they spotted Stark at Whittier Park, sitting in a white van and watching the kids playing. At the time there were dozens of kids enjoying the park. It was actually parents who spotted the van the day before and tipped off police.

News that Kenneth Stark is accused of watching kids at local parks is disturbing for Linda Monhan a Sioux Falls grandma who's often out with her granddaughter Macy.

"It kinda frightened me when I heard it was like 2 blocks away from my house," Monhan said.
When parents noticed a white van sitting outside of a Sioux Falls park, they wrote down the license plate number and gave it to police. When police ran it, they found it belonged to Kenneth Dale Stark. He is a convicted sex offender not only in South Dakota, but also in Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa.

He has nine prior convictions at least one of those is for sexual assault of a child.
Sioux Falls police in uniforms but in an unmarked cars followed stark to Whittier Park and then to Meldrum Park. When stark spotted the officers in uniform, he took off, but police were able to catch up with him a short time later and arrested him on several charges including being a sex offender loitering in a safety zone. He's now being held on a 25-thousand dollar cash bond.

For Linda Monhan, the arrest is a relief, but also a reminder of how watchful parents should be of suspicious activity.

"I'm usually out with her all the time and I usually watch out for things and see if there's anything strange," Monhan said.

Kermit “Casper” Flanders - Repeat Sex Offender Scumbag

A registered sex offender gave alcohol and marijuana to two teenage girls, molested one of them and wrote “bitch” on her forehead while she was unconscious, police said Wednesday.

Kermit “Casper” Flanders, 39, was arrested Tuesday after an investigation into an April 11 incident at his home in St. Albans. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Vermont District Court in Burlington to one count of sexual assault and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was ordered to be held without bail at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.

Vermont State Police called the case disturbing. “He’s a convicted sex offender who’s continuing to re-offend,” said Trooper Benjamin Katz, a state police detective.

A 17-year-old girl told authorities she accompanied Flanders’ niece to his home, where they mixed cocktails called Sex on the Beach, drank them and smoked a marijuana joint that was provided by Flanders, who crushed five pills of OxyContin and snorted the powder, according to an affidavit filed Wednesday.

The girl told police that, despite her requests to be left alone, Flanders picked her up and took her to his bed, where he pulled off her pants and underwear and assaulted her, according to the affidavit.

When she woke up the next morning, she realized Flanders had used a black marker to write “bitch” on her forehead and “mouth” on her chin, draw on her nose and write her name on her knee, the affidavit said.

The Burlington Free Press does not reveal the names of people who claim to be sexual-assault victims without their consent.
Flanders was convicted of sexual assault on a minor in 1995 and lewd and lascivious conduct in 1997, when he became registered as a sex offender.

Police also said Flanders had changed residences without notifying the registry, a violation of his probation.
Defense attorney John Findlay, who represented Flanders at Wednesday’s arraignment, wouldn’t comment on the new case.

Franklin County prosecutor Diane Wheeler was not in court for the arraignment, which was moved to neighboring Chittenden County in accordance with a new policy to hold a suspect’s court appearances in the county in which he or she is jailed. She could not be reached for comment afterward. Two telephone messages left at her St. Albans office were not immediately returned.

Lawrence Halbert - Repeat Sex Offender - Molested child in Costco

Halbert has three prior convictions for sexual crimes that include a 1979 conviction for molesting a child under 14, a 1980 conviction for a violent rape, and second rape and sexual assault conviction in 1989, Finney said.

A registered sex offender who was arrested Sunday in Concord for allegedly fondling a 9-year-old girl at a Costco store is scheduled to be arraigned in Contra Costa County Superior Court in Martinez Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence Halbert, a 50-year-old Concord man, has been charged with committing a felony lewd act on a child under 14 and two felony sex offender registration violations. He is also facing multiple enhancements related to his prior convictions, according to court records.
According to Concord police Sgt. Mike Finney, Halbert was at the Costco store at 2400 Monument Blvd. Sunday when he allegedly reached down and fondled a 9-year-old girl's buttocks.

The child's father allegedly saw the act and confronted Halbert.

Halbert allegedly told the father that he had touched the child accidentally, but the father didn't believe him and called police.
One of the officers who responded to the call had been assigned to monitor Halbert and knew he was a repeat sex offender, Finney said.
Halbert has three prior convictions for sexual crimes that include a 1979 conviction for molesting a child under 14, a 1980 conviction for a violent rape, and second rape and sexual assault conviction in 1989, Finney said.
Halbert served his entire sentence and spent years at Atascadero State Hospital in the sexually violent predator treatment program, but was released without parole in 1998. He lived in Oakland until 2007 when he moved to Concord and police have been monitoring him ever since, Finney said.

"There was a high probability he would re-offend," Finney said, citing Halbert's alleged lack of remorse for his previous crimes.

"The problem is that these guys don't stop," Finney said.

Halbert's bail has been set at $1.65 million. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m.

Because of his prior convictions, Halbert could face a life sentence if he is convicted of the current charges under the state's three strikes law, Finney said.

Marcellus Norman Jacob - Ticking Time Bomb Captured

The parole board initially refused to grant Jacob parole, citing his “disrespect for the law, impulsivity, chronic anger, low tolerance for frustration, substance misuse, sexual preoccupation, deviant patterns of sexual arousal, attitudes condoning the sexual misuse of women and dishonesty."

Convicted sex offender Marcellus Norman Jacob has been arrested after walking away from a Vancouver halfway house.

Investigators with the Integrated Sexual Predator Observation Team (ISPOT) made the arrest after two Canada-wide warrants were issued for Jacob.

“Mr. Jacob has a long history and is well-known to police,” said RCMP Acting Staff Sgt. Tim Shields.

“The community is safer with him back in custody.

“He was on parole, so he will likely have to remain in custody for the remainder of his sentence.”

Jacob, who went AWOL April 2, was released in 2006 after serving two-thirds of his seven-year sentence for the knifepoint sexual assault of a Whitehorse woman in 2001.

In his sentencing in 2002, Yukon Territorial Court Judge Barry Stuart described Jacob as a “ticking bomb,” with a “propensity for violence and for sexually inappropriate behaviour.”

Jacob, then 20, was armed with a knife when he broke into a woman's house in Whitehorse while she slept.

For several hours he forced her to carry out “deplorable, degrading acts,” including multiple physical and sexual assaults, according to the original sentencing report.

He was first released by the National Parole Board to a Vancouver halfway house in October 2006.

He disappeared one month later and was on the lam for four days before he turned himself in.

He also walked away from a halfway house on Aug. 10, 2008.

Melvin Middleton - Repeat Sex Offender - Internet Predator

St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies traveled to Saginaw, Mich., last month to arrest a man who was using the Internet to solicit sexual favors from a 13-year-old girl in Covington.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. George Bonnett said that in early March, the girl’s mother discovered evidence that her daughter was communicating with an out-of-state adult man through a social networking Web site. The mother also found that the two had also sent text messages to each other. All the communications allegedly had inappropriate text messages, e-mails and pictures, Bonnett said.

The mother went to the Sheriff’s Office, who investigated and traced the messages back to Melvin Middleton, 31, of Saginaw.

An arrest warrant was issued for Middleton, and the Saginaw police took him into custody. Deputies flew up to Michigan on March 19 and brought Middleton back, where he was booked on a charge of computer-aided solicitation of a minor for sexual purposes. Bonnett said Middleton is still in the St. Tammany Jail under a $25,000 bond.

Bonnett said Middleton is a convicted sex offender and is on the registry for sex offenders in Saginaw.

Since this is not Middleton’s first time being arrested as a sex offender, if convicted, he faces a prison sentence of between 10 to 20 years without benefit of parole, probation of suspension of sentence.

Manitoba enacts child porn reporting law

Manitoba became the first Canadian province to enact a law requiring anyone who encounters child pornography to report it to police.

Family Services Minister Gord Mackintosh said while the most likely people to come across child pornography are Internet service providers and computer repair technicians, the law makes it mandatory for every resident to report it, the Winnipeg Free Press reported Thursday.
The measure places pornography on the same level as child abuse, which the law already required citizens to report.
"Child exploitation is already the most under-reported form of child abuse and a serious problem that has to be addressed," Mackintosh said. "We have to increase reporting and we have to make sure the law catches up to technology."
Penalties for failing to alert police about child pornography include a maximum fine of $50,000 and up to two years in jail, the report said.

Jim Schneider - Music teacher busted for child porn

Two men in Colorado Springs are facing charges connected to child pornography. One of them is a band teacher at a local middle school.

According to the arrest affidavit, Jim Schneider admitted to police that he had images of child porn on his home computer. Police say it was folks at Yahoo, Inc. that tipped off authorities. They found the disturbing images in an online photo album.

The case landed at the ICAC unit, in the Colorado Springs Police department. Schneider was arrested at his home on Wednesday on charges of sexual exploitation of children.

It turns out he's a band teacher at Timberview Middle School in Academy District 20. He's also a tennis coach at Liberty High School. Police don't believe any children in Colorado Springs are victims.

It's a small relief for parents who trusted their children to a man now accused of this disturbing crime. Nanette Anderson is the spokesperson for Academy District 20. She says, "We know that families are concerned. The staff at Timberview is obviously shocked and saddened."

Sgt. Bill Dehart heads the ICAC unit. He says, "The reality is, it's the person closest to the children, the one you trust the most. It's not the stranger." He adds, that it's a very small percentage of people working in schools that get accused of this crime, but it's a sad reminder to be vigilant.

Schneider is no stranger to District 20. He's been working for them since 2001. Officials there say he passed a thorough background check, including checks with the FBI.

Just two days earlier, in a separate case, Michael Eichsteadt was arrested at his home in Colorado Springs. Police say his ex-wife tipped off authorities that he had child porn on his computer. Police say they found several hundred videos and images.

Both men are free on a $3,000 bond. Officials at District 20 will only say that Schneider is on leave. They won't say if it's paid.

Steven Eugene Hesson - Repeat Sex Offender - Baby Raper

The court proceeding included the reading of an impact statement by a 29-year-old woman who said she too was molested by Hesson when she was four years old. Her case was dismissed at the time because the judge deemed she was too young to give competent testimony.

A 60-year-old man with a history of child molestation was sentenced today by a Placer County judge to 16 years in state prison for committing lewd acts upon an eight-year-old Rocklin girl.

Steven Eugene Hesson, a registered sex offender, was given the term by Superior Court Judge J. Richard Couzens, who also ordered him to pay restitution penalties of $10,000.

The court proceeding included the reading of an impact statement by a 29-year-old woman who said she too was molested by Hesson when she was four years old. Her case was dismissed at the time because the judge deemed she was too young to give competent testimony.

“Words cannot explain the emotional pain my mind and body have gone through,” the woman told the court, adding that Hesson had “robbed me of my childhood innocence.”

“I don’t understand why anyone would want to leave a scar this big on anyone. I wanted to pretend like it never happened to me and tried to repress it and put it in a dark corner in my mind.”

The woman said she has suffered from stress, depression, anger, nightmares and drug problems and that she doesn’t trust people.

Placer County Deputy District Attorney Jeff Wood said the woman had waited 25 years to tell her story.

“Hopefully, this will bring some closure for her,” he said.

Wood said Hesson served a six-year prison sentence in 1984 for child molestation. Ironically, it was Judge Couzens who sentenced him in that case, he said.

In the more recent case, Rocklin police arrested Hesson on Sept. 24 after investigating a molestation report in which the defendant, who was renting a room at another man’s home, volunteered to babysit the eight-year-old girl when her father left the house because of an emergency.

Hesson entered a plea of guilty to two counts of child molestation on March 18.

Rasaan Raymon Patton - Repeat Sex Offender - Tries new trick

  • Previous conviction: RAPE OF DRUGGED VICTIM

Prosecutors say a registered sex offender purposely caused a car crash so he could sexually assault a teenage driver.

Rasaan Raymon Patton, 28, of Perris is charged with four felonies, including attempted rape and sexual battery by restraint. Prosecutors are seeking a possible life sentence, given that he has an earlier conviction, for a 1999 rape in Riverside County.

The incident happened around 2:40 a.m. on June 21, 2008, prosecutors said.

The 17-year-old girl was driving home alone on Yorktown Avenue in Huntington Beach. Patton followed the girl and caused a minor crash, prosecutors said. When she pulled over, Patton assaulted her, prosecutors said.

The girl managed to get away and reported the assault to police the next day, authorities said. Patton was arrested at his Riverside home Monday – after police say they linked a handprint on the girl's car to his fingerprints.

Patton will be arraigned today at Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison.

Randy Lee Ronning - Repeat Sex Offender - Slipped through the cracks

A convicted sex offender and former Bloomington youth sports coach recently charged with molesting two girls apparently slipped through a background check to work for Bloomington Public schools a decade ago.

Randy Lee Ronning, 36, of Bloomington, was charged last week with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct after a witness allegedly saw him molesting a girl in a motel room at a Bloomington Days Inn, where he was babysitting.

Police talked to one girl who said Ronning touched her inappropriately, while a second said that Ronning, her longtime babysitter, had molested her since she was 8 years old.

Ronning helped coach floor hockey in early 2008 and softball in the spring of 2006 for the Bloomington Athletic Association (BAA). The teams were for girls ages 8 to 10.

The BAA did not do a background check on Ronning, the group said. Police said they will work with the BAA on how to do such checks.

The revelation prompted police to send letters to parents whose children might have had him as their coach, though there was no evidence that Ronning committed any offenses while coaching, said Bloomington police Sgt. Mark Stehlik.

In 1992, Ronning was convicted of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Hennepin County. Police say that although the circumstances were different, that crime also involved a juvenile female. Police say a background check would have revealed that conviction.

Despite the existence of that record, the Bloomington public schools system hired Ronning in June 1999 to work as a school bus aide in the transportation center. Though his 1992 conviction should have stood out on a background check, it slipped by, said Bloomington Schools spokesperson Rick Kaufman.

Kaufman said that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension performs the school system's background checks and that no offenses by Ronning were found.

"Had that conviction shown up, I can guarantee you he would not have been hired to work in the district," Kaufman said.

Robert J. Washington - Repeat Sex Offender

A convicted sex offender who passed himself off as an executive chef of the Worthington Hotel offered several people jobs and groped at least two 17-year-old women, police said.

He told one of the women that this was what to expect from drunken hotel guests, police said.

Robert J. Washington, 41, was issued two citations for assault by contact Thursday.

Police say they learned of the ruse Monday night after some of the people showed up at the downtown hotel, only to find that Washington did not work there.

Detective Kerry Adcock said Washington has denied deliberately touching anyone inappropriately or promising people work, but admitted posing as a chef to "impress people and because he didn’t want to tell them he’s a sex offender."

Tarrant County court records show Washington, 41, plead guilty in 1991 to aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in exchange for a 15-year prison sentence.

A 17-year-old college student told police that she had called Washington after learning through someone at her church that he worked at the hotel and was reportedly hiring. She said Washington offered her a hostess job for that night and even gave her a ride home from college to discuss it.

But as they arrived at her home on the short east side, the teen told police, Washington warned her about drunken hotel guests she would likely encounter on the job.

"He told her, 'They might try to do this’ and then he reaches over and starts grabbing her breasts," Adcock said.

The teen said she jumped out of the car but Washington didn’t leave, still insisting he could get her a job. He also told about a half a dozen others gathered in the area, including a few men, that he had work for them that night at the hotel, too, Adcock said.

Adcock said Washington instructed the people to dress in black pants and a white shirt and said he’d arrange to have them picked up by bus around 9 p.m. at the location. At some point during his talk with the group, police say he also grabbed the breast of another 17-year-old girl.

"She was wearing a tank top and Washington grabbed her breast saying, 'You will have to cover those up,’ " said Sgt. Cheryl Johnson.

The woman told police that she told Washington to get his hands off her, and he apologized.

When a bus didn’t show at the designated hour, someone in the group called Washington and was told that the hotel’s restaurant had been closed down by OSHA and that he wouldn’t need anyone that night.

Police said Washington later drove back to the neighborhood, recruiting an 18-year-old woman to supervise the clean-up.

Police were later called after that woman, accompanied by one of the 17-year-old women and another man, went to the hotel and learned that Washington did not work there.

Garth Jason Gumienny - Repeat Sex Offender - Tenant molesting boy

A registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a boy whose mother rented him a room unaware that he was a convicted child molester, police said Wednesday.

Garth Jason Gumienny, 35, was booked into the county jail and faces 10 counts of child molestation. He was arrested by officers conducting checks to make sure registered sex offenders are complying with the terms of their release from prison, police said.

Officers said they visited 77 registered sex offenders in the city on Tuesday.

During the checks, police said they found Gumienny staying in a room at an apartment on Parks Avenue near University Avenue. A young boy was also found to be living in that room, police said.

Gumienny was a roommate in the apartment, and the boy's mother was unaware that he was a registered sex offender, police said. The boy shared the room with the sex offender for at least one year as part of the living arrangements, police said.

Officers said they are still trying to determine how long the molestation took place.

The boy's age is not being released to protect his identity, but police said he is younger than 16.

Detectives said they interviewed the boy and determined he had been molested “numerous times.”

Gumienny was booked in lieu of $1.25 million bail. He was convicted of oral sex with a minor and possessing material depicting minors in a sexual act, according to the state's Megan's Law Web site.

Michael McGill - Repeat Sex Offender - Violated parole within 2 weeks of release

UPDATED

A convicted sex offender recently released from prison, had his parole revoked Tuesday. A judge ordered Michael McGill back to prison for another two years.

Tuesday morning McGill told a judge via video conference from the Newton Correctional Facility, how he planned to commit a bank robbery, take hostages, and commit several other sexual assaults.

McGill was released from prison on March 28th, only to return four days later for a parole violation. Last April, McGill was convicted of inappropriately grabbing a man with intent to commit sexual abuse.

From March 28 2009

"Please throw the book at me ... I'm harmful to others I should be locked up for life," he wrote in block letters that resemble a child's writing. "I will sexual abuse men. Do this for the safe (sic) of others then I be able not to hurt anyone else. Judge I'm begging you to put me away."

In another place he wrote that he had told his two 7-year-old male victims, "I will do more sex crimes with boys 4 to 14. I will molest with boys 15 to 18."
McGill writes: "The reason why I molest boys. It give me the thrill to be in control of their penises and tell them what to do. ..."

McGill, 50, wrote that his sexual offenses date to 1976 and that there were 15 victims.

A convicted sex offender due to be released Saturday from prison after serving 11 months warned in letters that if set free, he would reoffend, even against children. In the letters, Michael McGill begged authorities to keep him locked up for life.

Neither the Polk County attorney's office, which prosecuted McGill and distributed his letters to other agencies, nor the Iowa Board of Parole, nor the attorney general's office, which handles civil commitments for sexually violent predators, says it can do anything to prevent McGill's release.

McGill will at least initially be housed at the community-based Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility, which he won't be allowed to leave without an officer's escort. He is supposed to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet at all times and be under maximum supervision for 10 years. But is that enough?

His letters, spanning 22 pages, were obtained Thursday by The Des Moines Register. It's unclear whether he was addressing anyone in particular. They were written at some point after his latest arrest, in April 2008. Assistant Polk County Attorney Jeff Noble got them June 13, 2008, and sent them days later to officials at the Des Moines Police Department, the Iowa Board of Parole and the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. McGill, 50, wrote that his sexual offenses date to 1976 and that there were 15 victims.

Noble got McGill convicted of his latest offense, intent to commit sexual abuse. McGill tried to grab the penis of a 21-year-old man in a restroom at Valley West Mall on April 30, 2008. In a letter attached to McGill's letters, Noble wrote that in the very week that McGill was arrested for that crime, he had also been arrested for "viewing or attempting to view" under the stalls in a public men's room using a mirror. He pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and criminal mischief and was fined $100.

"He apparently maintained his position - that he is a danger to others and intends to reoffend - even after he was incarcerated," Noble wrote.
"Obviously," wrote Noble, "these letters are relevant to placement, treatment, parole, supervision, civil commitment and possibly further investigation into other crimes."

McGill's letters acknowledge both of the April 2008 incidents. McGill also wrote that among other incidents he:

• Was banned in 1990 from the "Gallery book store" for soliciting sex with young men.

• Was banned from "Younkys" downtown for having sex in a restroom with another man.

• Used a compact mirror in 1990 to look at the genitalia of a child in the next stall, then crawled underneath and had forcible sex with him.

• Approached a boy from behind at a urinal at Merle Hay Mall and molested him in the mid-'90s.

The accounts are sickening and scary.

In one letter, McGill writes: "The reason why I molest boys. It give me the thrill to be in control of their penises and tell them what to do. ..."

Yet all those involved in his case say they have no choice but to let him out.

The Iowa Board of Parole had no choice but to approve him for a parole release because he completed the 11 months required on a special 10-year sentence created by the Iowa Legislature, according to executive director Clarence Key Jr. That sentence dictates the supervision he will get after release. Iowa law provides for civil commitment for certain sexually violent predators who have completed their criminal sentences but are considered too dangerous to be out in society.

A five-member Prosecutors Review Committee, appointed by the attorney general, and the county prosecutor who handled the case decide whether to pursue a civil-commitment hearing, according to Bob Brammer, spokesman for the Iowa attorney general's office.

Brammer said the committee referred McGill's case to a psychologist who examined McGill and reviewed his records and determined he did not meet the criteria for a civil commitment. He said without the psychologist finding the need for civil commitment, the committee cannot proceed with it. A multidisciplinary team appointed by the director of the Department of Correctional Services reached the same conclusion, Brammer said.

Among the criteria, the person must suffer from a mental abnormality that makes him or her likely to engage in predatory acts, and must have been charged with or convicted of a sexually violent offense. Brammer said McGill's record contains three other arrests, one for indecent exposure.

Brammer said the psychologist, whom he did not name,
was aware of McGill's letters.

Beth Barnhill heads the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault and sits on the multidisciplinary committee. She said the civil-commitment law is written so narrowly that few sex offenders meet the criteria. "Yes, I think the public is at risk," she said of McGill's release.

Barnhill says there is more leverage for holding someone like McGill longer if the original charge is for a higher-level offense or more than one offense.

Asked why McGill's two April 2008 offenses weren't combined for a higher-level offense, Noble said that criminal mischief and criminal trespass are simple misdemeanors, which are nonindictable.

Is he concerned about McGill's release?

"Any sex offender in the community is a concern, some more than others," is all Noble would say.

All of this makes technical sense, and yet something here defies common sense. A man who admits to being a pedophile, to getting a thrill from sexually assaulting people, who says he has done it multiple times and will do it again, will be released from prison tomorrow, and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it?

William Edward Stevens, Jr. - Internet Predator

William Edward Stevens, Jr., 52, of Melbourne, Florida, was sentenced in Coeur d’Alene Monday afternoon to 72 months in federal prison for Use of Interstate Facilities to Transmit Information About a Minor, and Conspiracy to Use a Minor to Distribute a Controlled Substance.

U.S. Attorney Tom Moss announced the sentence in a news release Monday afternoon.

This prosecution arose after Moscow Police and the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted an investigation showing that for approximately three years, Stevens had communicated from his Florida home with a teenage girl from Moscow and engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with her over the Internet.
The girl was between the ages of 12 and 15 years of age and was being home schooled. The investigation showed that Stevens met the victim in an online chat room and misrepresented himself to the minor victim as a law enforcement officer, which he is not. Stevens also misrepresented himself as being younger than he is, and sent the minor victim photos of his 21-year-old son, and claimed they were of him.
The chats included dialogue and behavior that was explicitly sexual in nature. The drug charge came as a result of Stevens encouraging the victim to secretly give her mother Ambien, a prescription sleeping medication, so he and the teenager could have time together to engage in online sexual activity and sex talk.

James A. Anagnos - Repeat Sex Offender - Busted AGAIN

A former Massena man and registered sex offender has been arrested on possession of child porn charges.

36-year-old James A. Anagnos, who recently moved to Watertown was arrested Friday night on a warrant charging him with two counts of Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child. Further information was not available.

Anagnos is a Level 3 sex offender, having been convicted on a charge of 3rd degree Rape involving a 16-year-old girl in 2000.

Anagnos was arraigned in Massena Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County Jail on no bail.

Irish priests abused 'thousands' of children

At a Thursday mass in Dublin's Pro-Cathedral, an Irish Archbishop shocked his congregation, which included numerous priests, by exclaiming that a forthcoming investigative report will reveal that over three decades, Irish Catholic priests have abused "thousands" of children.

"[The report] will make us and the entire church a humbler church," he said.

"The archbishop said the report, compiled by the Dublin Archdiocese Commission of Investigation, is expected to show that 'thousands of children or young people across Ireland were abused by priests in the period under investigation and the horror of that abuse was not recognized for what it is,'" reported the Associated Press.

"The government-appointed commission was set up to investigate abuses within the Dublin archdiocese in 2006, the same year the diocese admitted that up to 102 of its priests were suspected of abusing children. The report is studying how complaints of child sexual abuse were handled."

"Martin is seen as a reformer sent in by the Vatican to clean up a church rocked by a decade and a half of scandals," reported the Guardian. "One of the most notorious, in the mid-1990s, involved priest Brendan Smyth and indirectly led to the collapse of Albert Reynolds's government.

"Accusations that the Irish attorney general's office blocked moves to extradite Smyth to Northern Ireland led to the Irish Labour party pulling out of coalition with Reynolds's Fianna Fáil and the government falling."

"The Archdiocese of Dublin is facing challenges of a kind that it has not experienced for many years," he said, according to the Press Association.

"Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin warned that a massive investigation of parishes in the Irish capital will find children were subjected to horrific attacks between 1975 and 2004," the group reported.

According to the BBC, "In 1999, the then Irish prime minister Bertie Ahern delivered an unprecedented apology to the victims on behalf of the state.

"He also set up the commission to report on abuse allegations in institutions such as schools, orphanages, hospitals and children's homes that were funded by the state, but were mainly run by Catholic religious orders.

"Some of the allegations date back to the 1930s."

Story

3 plead guilty to child porn charges

A Bloomington, Ind., man pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court Friday to charges he and two women took pictures of sexual parties involving a 3-year-old girl and an 11-year-old New Athens girl and sent the pictures over the Internet.

William M. Milligan, 27, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and receipt of child pornography before U.S. Magistrate Judge Donald Wilkerson.

Louise Helen Masulla, 32, formerly of New Athens, and Tabitha D. Robinson, 32, of Midlothian, also face charges of trafficking the girls across state lines for sexual purposes.

Robinson had custory of the 3-year-old girl; the 11-year-old girl was in Masulla's custody.

The child porn ring was uncovered after Alton police were told about child molestation and Internet chat room activity that happened between July 22 and Aug. 10.

Milligan, Robinson and Masulla met in an a Terre Haute, Ind., hotel room and engaged in a sex party involving the two children and took photos of the molestation, according to the charges.

Masulla e-mailed the pictures to Robinson and Milligan, and he circulated them to at least five other men on the Internet, according to federal court documents.

"This defendant and two co-conspirators made ... statements that could be construed as confessions," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Garrison, who prosecuted the case.

Robinson pleaded guilty April 1. Sentencing is scheduled for July 13.

Milligan entered his guilty plea Friday. He could face between 24 and 31 years in prison when he is sentenced June 22.

Louise Helen Masulla, 33, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to a federal indictment charging her with conspiracy to produce child pornography, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, aggravated sexual abuse and transportation of child pornography.

Masulla's two co-defendants previously had pleaded guilty to charges in the indictment.

According to a factual stipulation filed at the time of Masulla's guilty pleas, Masulla met a co-defendant in an Internet chat room. During their Internet chats, Masulla and the co-defendant discussed having sex with children. Masulla and one co-defendant met in Alton last summer for a sexual encounter.

Beginning in 2008, Masulla and her co-defendants met each other in Internet chat rooms and had conversations of a sexual nature, which included discussion about sex with children. Masulla included a minor during some of the Internet chats, and on one occasion, the child was unclothed.

On or about Aug. 8 of last year, Masulla and her co-defendants traveled to the same hotel in Terre Haute, Ind., with two minor children. Masulla and her co-defendants had group sex. During the sexual encounter, the two minor children were present and were naked at various times. Masulla admitted that she performed oral sex on the minors at that time.

Sentencing for Masulla is scheduled for July 27.

Clyde Williams Sr. - Repeat Sex Offender - Molests child with assistance of wife

Williams' wife, Kristi Williams, 30, was aware of the crime and had done nothing to assist the child or notify authorities, the release said.

A registered sex offender and his wife were arrested Thursday on new charges involving the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Mark Campobello - Defrocked priest, convicted sex offender, arrested

A former Geneva, Illinois priest and registered sex offender is back behind bars for a second parole violation in less than a year.

Mark Campobello, 45, of Crystal Lake, spent nearly four years at the Illinois River facility in Canton, after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in 2004.

The de-frocked priest is classified as a sexual predator, a designation which requires him to register annually for the rest of his life. He apparently violated parole by not maintaining a permanent address.

Since Campobello was paroled in February of 2008, he was soon behind bars again, spending May through July incarcerated for what board officials said was a “minor” parole violation.

The Illinois Prisoner Review Board will have to determine the length of Campobello’s incarceration for this current offense. In May, Jorge Montes, chairman of the review board, was quoted as saying that while that infraction was minor in nature, the three month imprisonment was meant “to remind him [Campobello] that he needs to follow the parole rules to a T.”

Shortly before his scheduled trial date in May of 2004, Campobello pleaded guilty to sexually molesting two adolescent girls while living at St. Peter Parish in Geneva. One victim was a student at the Geneva parish’s school and according to police reports, some of the abuse incidents occurred in the church rectory. The other victim was a student of Aurora Central Catholic High School, where Campobello served as an assistant principal and spiritual director.

The victims filed a civil suit against Campobello, Bishop Thomas Doran and the Rockford Diocese, claiming officials knew of the abuse and did not take appropriate action to stop it. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockford eventually paid a total of $2.2 million to settle the claim in 2007.

The diocese petitioned the Vatican to have Campobello officially removed from the priesthood in 2005.

While Campobello bounces in and out of the Illinois Department of Corrections, his former Geneva parish and its current pastor, Joseph Jarmoluk are reportedly the subject of a documentary film being made about the case by a New York production company called CTL NYC. The production company maintains a promotional website about the film, entitled "Forsaken," as well as an internet radio show and a message board.

Barry Whaley - Repeat Sex Offender - One of the stupidest pedos ever

A Florida sex offender under arrest for failing to register is now facing federal pornography charges after he offered to show a detective a flight simulator program on his laptop and instead revealed a child porn video, according to court records.
Barry Whaley, of Miami Beach, was arrested in Alaska on Monday on a federal charge of possessing child pornography and was being held in Fairbanks, Assistant U.S. Attorney Audrey Renschen said.

The case began on June 26, 2008, when Miami Beach police contacted Whaley to check his compliance as a registered sex offender, according to an affidavit that Secret Service Special Agent Timothy Aucoin filed in federal court.

Police found the apartment Whaley was registered to had been condemned following a fire on June 17, and that he had not updated his address. Police also learned Whaley had given them a fake name during the fire investigation.

Whaley was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and failure to register. While at the police station, he asked detectives to grab his computer out of his vehicle so it wouldn't get stolen, the affidavit says.

Once detectives brought the computer inside, Whaley told a police sergeant there was a "flight simulator program on the computer that was amazing," Aucoin says in the court papers.

"The sergeant asked if he could see the program," he continues. "Whaley agreed and began to show the sergeant the laptop. As the sergeant was sitting next to Whaley, a video began to play on the laptop of two young females who appeared to be under 12 years old engaged in sexual activity."

The computer was seized and found to contain a number of pornographic pictures and videos of girls as young as 10, the affidavit says.

After his arrest on the Florida charges, Whaley posted bail, then came to Alaska, the affidavit says. Renschen said the case can be handled in Alaska only if Florida officials consent and Whaley is willing to plead guilty and be sentenced here.

"At this point, Mr. Whaley is considering his options, with the help of his attorney, so it is unclear where the case will be resolved," she said.

Daniel Holdren - Repeat Sex Offender - Molested Girl at Church

A 45-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree child molestation after an 11-year-old girl said the man molested her at church functions at the Church of the Nazarene in Yelm, according to the Yelm Police Department.

Daniel Holdren, 45, was being held at the Thurston County Jail on Monday night on suspicion of three counts of attempted first-degree child molestation pending a “safe-to-be-at-large” evaluation. During such an evaluation, a health care professional interviews a defendant to determine any public safety concerns if that defendant were to be released from custody.

Yelm Police Chief Todd Stancil said Monday that police fear there might be more alleged victims who haven’t come forward yet.

He said Holdren’s alleged acts of molestation against the 11-year-old started occurring in July “at church-type functions.”

Holdren was arrested Saturday after the girl came forward with her allegations.

“We’re expecting there’s more,” Stancil said. “We believe there’s probably additional incidents like this.”

Stancil said anyone with additional information should contact the Yelm Police Department at 360-458-5701.

Holdren has been classified as a Level 2 sex offender since 1988, when he was charged with indecent liberties, and later in 2003 when he was charged with communication with a minor for immoral purposes, according to Yelm police. Holdren has been on supervised probation since that time.

Holdren didn’t work at the Church of the Nazarene but attended services there, Stancil said. Stancil said the alleged molestation occurred at events such as dinners and other church functions, and occurred in the area of the church itself.

Stancil said there was nothing in Holdren’s probationary requirements that would prevent him from having contact with children at the church.

Stancil said Holdren engaged in “grooming” behaviors at the church, giving potential victims gifts and other items to gain their trust.

A man who answered the phone at the Church of the Nazarene hung up when contacted by The Olympian on Monday.

Rodney Martineau - Repeat Sex Offender - GUILTY

A Massachusetts registered sex offender was found guilty of loitering and interference with custody after he was found with a teenage boy in a Salem parking lot.

Rodney Martineau, 42, was found in a Main Street parking lot on Jan. 13 with a 15-year-old boy from Methuen, Mass., police said. The boy had snuck out of his home without his parents' knowledge, police said.

Investigators said they learned that Martineau was communicating with the boy on his computer and set up a meeting. The boy was taken into protective custody and released to his parents.
An officer took the boy aside and began questioning him. He said the boy told them that he had been chatting online with Martineau and snuck out of his home in Methuen, Mass., to go with him. Police said that while the boy went willingly, he was beginning to have second thoughts. "The male subject told him he was 27 years old, not 42," Patten said. "The boy also told us that he was scared and started looking at street signs. He had snuck out of his house to meet the man, and the man had driven him up to Salem, N.H."
Martineau was eventually taken into custody and charged with loitering and interference with custody. He was found guilty Tuesday, and the case was referred to probation for a pre-sentence investigation.

Salem police said they forwarded the investigation to Methuen police because Martineau allegedly contacted the boy there.

McNeely is accused of abusing a girl at his home. Police said they were called Monday to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center by Forsyth County Department of Social Services workers, who reported that the girl had been abused.
Police McNeely is an acquaintance of the girl's family. He was convicted in 1992 in Catawba County of indecent liberties with a minor, and released in 1998, after serving six years in prison.

McNeely is in the Forsyth County Jail with bond set at $880,000.
